THE GATHERING PLACE  COMMUNITY DAY EVENT

The Gathering Place Community Day event is a 1- day outdoor event held annually. The day is loaded with fun and fellowship for the Congress Heights community.  Founder and Executive Director, JaVonte Austin of Gathering Austin, Inc, (a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization), envisioned this event as a day of community leaders sharing a fun-filled day with the foster and parent-less children of the neighborhood. As a former foster child himself, JaVonte understood how great of an impact it would have been, if he and other foster and parent-less children would have had a show of support from extended community members of their time. JaVonte has ensures a great time for all. He provides moon bounces and children activities as well as insist that there are free health checks and screens available for.

2018 was The Gathering Place Community Day's first unofficial outdoor barbecue event.  This year's event will be the official launch and the Gathering Austin's Team are excited about its possibilities.
